Please note: I cannot guarantee some of the information on this page. While some things are pretty obvious, such as the year of release or who made the item, when it comes to descriptions I'm relying solely on Google Translate and my ability to decipher what it means. I'll do my best to provide accurate information, but I want to make clear that things could be waaaaaay off here; Google Translate isn't always accurate.

Originally a public radio drama on "Orikasa Ai's Moonlight Cafe" in 1996, the Battle Athletes franchise eventually became a series of games, beginning with one released for the Sega Saturn. Eventually more games were released for consoles, which can easily be found at places like eBay just about every other week. What seems to be more difficult to come across, however, are software titles.

This is apparently the sequel to the PS1 "Alternative" game, and wow, only a year apart! That is some quick game making! I was all prepared to make a quip about that not being such a huge feat if they just copied the previous game, but no! The screenshots show a completely redesigned game, featuring 3D models and dumping the side scrolling aspect of the game. I have a feeling the game play is pretty much the same as the first one, but it does look like they put in effort to keep it from looking like a Super Nintendo game.

The booklet is nifty as well, as it doesn't recycle artwork from previous sources anymore! (well, one picture, but everything on the character bios is new).

The case is insanely deep, just as with the previous game, and just as with the previous game there is no logical reason for it.

Many thanks to Akemi's Anime World for the background information.
